About Dom Eugene Boylan Kevin Boylan was born in 1904 at Bray, Co. Wicklow. His early years were spent in Derry. (His father was a bank official). Entitled Dom Eugene Boylan: Trappist monk, scientist and writer, it recounts the remarkable story of a prize-winning student, music-lover, ladies’ man, and physicist who won a scholarship to University of Vienna, lectured at UCD, and to everyone’s surprise became a monk at Mount St Joseph Abbey, Roscrea.
